Gold rate today slips as margin call pressure mounts on traders

Bullion counters slipped in opening trade on Friday as traders withdrew money to cover margin calls in equities even as coronavirus claimed its first victim in India.

A 76-year-old man from Karnataka’s Kalaburgi, who passed away recently, tested positive for Covid-19. The doctors had suspected that the man had coronavirus, however, the test had not confirmed it.

Gold futures dipped 1.62 per cent or Rs 684 to Rs 41,522 per 10 grams, while silver futures fell 3.12 per cent or Rs  1,377 to Rs 42,762 per kg.
